The issue has sparked anger among tribal groups, who see it as a direct threat to their cultural and spiritual identity.

At the same time, the Kurmi–Mahato community’s demand for inclusion in the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category has intensified, adding another layer to the state’s complex socio-political landscape. Their ongoing protests have highlighted deep-rooted questions about representation, historical justice, and recognition of tribal heritage.
